COVID Test
What kind of testing is provided by New Horizons Primary Care?
We provide three types of tests.
1) Antigen test
2) Serology test
3) PCR Test
Which test should I ask for?
Both Antigen test an serology tests have severe error rates. So we advise patients to do only PCR Tests.
What happens in the PCR test?
A nasal swab is taken from both the nares and sent to our lab partner. You will typically receive a result within 2 business days.
What do you test for in PCR Test?
We check for Corona Virus; If your symptoms require we also check for close to 15 other virus and bacteria.
Why does the last line on my test say positive ?
The last line is a test for "endogenous control". It is not for Coronavirus COVID-19. All the tests are tested for endogenous control to ensure swabbing was correctly done. COVID swabbing needs to be done from nasopharynx with both the nares. Endogenous control tests for proteins on the swab to ensure swabbing was done correctly. If the endogenous control is positive that means your test was accurate. If endogenous control is negative that means your test swabbing was defective.
So the last line on your test report has to be positive for the test to be accurate. Please check the line Coronavirus COVID-19 for your COVID result.
