Coronavirus disease and Ibuprofen
At this time, we advise patients to avoid taking ibuprofen while positive for COVID-19.
The publication in Lancet dated March 11,2020 hypothesized that overexpression of ACE2 can facilitate infection with COVID-19.
Even though FDA has not published any guideline banning use of ibuprofen while treating COVID-19 we advise our patients to limit the use of ibuprofen.
So our recommendation is to use Tylenol to treat fever of patients tested positive for COVID.
Over the counter Tylenol(500mg) up to 4 times a day must bring down fever. If fever is not controlled please contact us so that we can help you.
